Press release: Gold butyl acrylate (Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat)
The product of the Acrylic Acid Plant, Gazprom neftekhim Salavat, was recognized by the «All-Russian Brand (3rd Millennium). Quality Label of the 21st Century» competition.
Acrylic acid butyl ester (butyl acrylate) has been awarded a gold quality mark. Earlier in 2018, butyl acrylate was included in «Russia’s 100 best products», amongst eight products of Gazprom neftekhim Salavat winning the all-Russian competition.
Butyl acrylate is produced from the Company’s own feed, i.e. butanol obtained in Butyl Alcohols Workshop No. 52 and acrylic acid ester (grade E). As of 2018, the Company’s output equaled over 73 thousand tons of butyl acrylate (69 thousand tons in 2017).
Butyl acrylate is used for production of acrylic emulsions, which serve as feed to manufacture paints and lacquers, writing ink, adhesive materials, synthetic latex, and additives to lubricating oil and plastic. Almost half of the demand for butyl acrylate is generated by producers of surface coatings. Just like for other acrylates, the basic determinant of the demand for butyl acrylate is development of the construction sector.
The 40th «All-Russian Brand (3rd Millennium). Quality Label of the 21st Century» competition was held within the framework of the National program aimed at promotion of the best Russian products, services and technologies, from June 15 to December 25, 2018. This contest is a voluntary quality certification system of products and services. Under the contest conditions, the winning enterprise may mark its products with the quality seal during two years; this is an additional safety and quality assurance for a consumer.
