Press release: Acron Launches Blended Fertiliser Production in Veliky Novgorod

Acron Group, one of the leading mineral fertiliser producers in Russia and globally, has commissioned a 600-ktpa blended fertiliser unit at its site in Veliky Novgorod.

The new unit was designed by Novgorod GIAP (a member of Acron Group) and cost RUB 150 million. With the unit commissioned, Acron will extend its product range by almost 30 types of blended fertilisers and be able to rapidly adjust to customer demands.

Acron Board of Directors Chair Alexander Popov comments: “The project’s key objective is to diversify the product portfolio and benefit from demand for premium products that are derived from straight fertilisers. Today, farmers are focused on precise fertiliser application. Blended fertilisers fit this technology very well”.

The project included construction of four 150-tonne storage facilities and a product shipment facility with an underground bunker based on the existing AN shop. The unit is equipped with component dosing, continuous handling, aspiration and weighting systems. The whole process of blended fertiliser production is automated and managed by a single operator. Acron also secured multi-component chemical composition and continuity of the production process. Blended fertilisers will be shipped both in bulk and packed. The current rail track was extended by another 200 metres and equipped with a new crossing.

Acron Group also produces blended fertilisers at its Dorogobuzh facility. In 2017, Acron Group produced over 670,000 tonnes of blends in Smolensk region.

Blended fertilisers are complex fertilisers produced by dry mixing straight fertilisers. Dry blended fertilisers are used for basic application, pre-sowing treatment and plant nutrition. They are applied to all types of soil and for all crops where controlled introduction of nutrients is required. Nutrients ratios depend on soil composition and crop type.
