Press release: Gazprom actively implementing occupational standards
The Gazprom Board of Directors took note of the information about the implementation of occupational standards at the Company, its subsidiaries and organizations.
It was mentioned that highly skilled personnel was a key competitive advantage for Gazprom. The Company makes systematic efforts for human resources development, including the timely improvement of the professional skills and competencies of employees in accordance with Gazprom’s future needs.
Development of occupational standards for the oil and gas industry is an important aspect of the Company’s work in this area. Since 2014, Gazprom has developed 26 out of the 66 industry standards.
Gazprom actively implements occupational standards for oil and gas professionals, as well as for cross-industry specialists employed with the Company. Among them are the most high-demand jobs in such fields as finance, construction, digital and communication technologies, and information exchange.
Currently, more than 385 standards are in use at Gazprom, its subsidiaries and organizations. Of that total, 80 standards are mandatory under Russian law.
Occupational standards are taken into account by educational entities cooperating with Gazprom and by corporate training centers in the course of formulating and improving educational programs. Over 500 corporate educational programs have been updated since 2014. Gazprom’s top-priority universities and educational entities have received 48 certificates of professional and public accreditation for their educational programs from the Council for Professional Qualifications in the Oil and Gas Industry.
The Management Committee was instructed to continue implementing occupational standards at Gazprom, its subsidiaries and organizations.
Background
An occupational standard describes the qualifications required of an employee to practice a certain profession. Occupational standards form the core of national qualifications systems and are meant to ensure connectivity between employment and vocational education.
