Press release: Gazprom Neft is developing the digital economy in the Omsk Oblast
Alexander Burkov, Acting Governor of the Omsk Oblast, recently visited the Gazprom Neft TechnoPark, Omsk, for discussions on issues relating to the implementation of the Russian Federation’s “Digital Economy” programme, and the development of innovative digital projects in the Omsk Oblast. The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant government ministries, major industrial enterprises, and the region’s higher educational establishments. Gazprom Neft was represented by Rustem Mufteev, General Director of Avtomatika-Servis, the operating company of the TechnoPark, and General Director of the Gazprom Neft Omsk Refinery, Oleg Belyavsky.
The TechnoPark provides a unique platform for the development and testing of digital solutions in import substitution, software and industrial automation equipment. Thus far, there are no competitive facilities to match the Technopark — in terms of the range of its activities — anywhere beyond the Urals. Being directed at improving business and operational efficiency and industrial safety and environmental protection, projects under implementation are universal, and can be applied across many industries. Working in collaboration with the end-users of specialist solutions, as well as representatives from the scientific community, the TechnoPark is leading the development of innovative digital projects in the Omsk Oblast.
Meeting participants were also given an insight into the opportunities the TechnoPark offers for young academics, with Alexander Burkov, in particular, taking part in the opening of a “co-working” facility, in which young professional can discuss their ideas in digitisation and industrial automation, using the TechnoPark’s extensive infrastructure. Gazprom Neft is providing grant-awards for promising ideas, as well as offering young developers automated work spaces and arranging full specialist support. Testing of new developments takes place within the Omsk Refinery and other Gazprom Neft production facilities.
Alexander Burikov stressed: “Scientific centres at this level are creating an appropriate working environment for talented young engineers, and are developing the digital potential of the region. Dozens of higher educational establishments and scientific research institutes are concentrated in the Omsk Oblast which, in coordination with leading industrial enterprises, should become a source of growth in developing the principles of a digital economy. We can see that Gazprom Neft is, already, leading this work, in becoming one of the key leaders in implementing the Russian Federation’s ‘Digital Economy’ programme.”
Rustem Mufteev added: “It’s important for us that the discussion on the route to digitising the economy of the Omsk Oblast should begin within the platform of our TechnoPark. Gazprom Neft specialists are leading the development of cutting-edge digital solutions, including in working with Big Data, integrating neuro-technologies, and AI. Import substitution for key digital-transformation systems — that’s the very least of our plans.”
