Titan becomes sponsor of international judo tournament

The Titan group of companies has become the general sponsor of the international memorial judo tournament commemorating judo coach Anatoly Khmelev and policeman Nikolai Anokhin. Titan created the prize fund for the competition and provided sportsmen and spectators with memorable souvenirs. The tournament was held at the Avangard Olympic Training Center in Omsk. Judo wrestlers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Siberia, and the Urals and Volga regions — about 200 sportsmen, including members of the Russian national team — took part in the competition. As part of the event, individual and team championships in seven weight categories were held. It is not the first time that Titan Group has sponsored judo competitions and other combat sport events. For the last seven years, the company has been participating in organizing the All-Russian sambo (unarmed self-defence) tournament commemorating Alexander Pushnitsa.

ZAO Titan Group of Companies is a Russian petrochemical firm and the largest Russian producer of MTBE. Titan is a general investor of the rubber producer OAO Omsky Kauchuk and an owner of ZAO Ecooil. In September 2006, the company, jointly with TOO Basko, opened the first CIS bioethanol complex, Biokhim, in Kazakhstan. In November 2006, Titan started construction on the first Russian bioethanol plant in the Omsk region. The company was founded in 1989 in Omsk.
