Press-release: Ethylene plant personnel celebrates anniversary
The plant was built in record time: it took only 14 months to install the main equipment. The joint decision of the CPSU Central Committee and the USSR Council of Ministers was taken on December 03, 1970 about construction of the new complex for production of ethylene, propylene, butadiene, benzene and other related products. In the 1973-1974 a large-scale construction was started, and the first commercial ethylene was produced on June 21, 1976 already.
As a result of reconstruction and revamping activities over the past decades, the ethylene plant capacity was brought up to today's 600 thousand tons per year. Totally, more than 16 million tons of ethylene, about 8 million tons of propylene, more than 2 million tons of butadiene and more than 6 million tons of benzene were produced since the plant was into operation.
Ethylene plant is the main raw material supplier for the majority of Nizhnekamskneftekhim production facilities. Its products are also sent for further processing to the petrochemical facilities of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan and for export.
