Press release (Gazprom Neft): YANOS increases 2018 refining volumes to reach 15.7 million tonnes

JSC Slavneft-YANOS increased refining volumes by 1.5 percent in 2018, to 15.7 million tonnes of oil (mt), making it one of the top three largest refineries in Russia. Light product yield was also up 1.5 percent, reaching 8.7 million tonnes.

Production of aviation kerosene was also up 35.5 percent year-on-year, at more than 1.7 million tonnes, making JSC Slavneft-YANOS the market leader by output — adjustments to the business’s product slate in terms of increasing output of aviation fuels having been undertaken to make the business better placed to meet demand.

Lubricant production totalled 309,000 tonnes, with the company’s lubricants range having been enhanced by new offerings produced at the plant’s new Group III base oils facility, output from which reached 100,000 over the course of the year following the facility’s commissioning in 2017 as part of a governmental import-substitution programme. This facility’s operation as part of the plant’s process design means it can produce Group III base oils meeting API specifications to be used in producing lubricants in line with the latest international requirements, thus replacing imported products.

In addition to Group III base oils, production of low-viscosity base oils for drilling fluids also takes place at this facility — this new product again replacing imported alternatives, demand for which is steadily increasing.

The plant also produced 2.5 mt of automotive gasolines in 2018, together with more than 3.9 mt of diesel fuels, 97,900 tonnes of aromatic hydrocarbons, 482,000 tonnes of petroleum bitumen and 103,000 tonnes of liquefied gases.

NOTES FOR EDITORS

JSC Slavneft-Yaroslavnefteorgsintez (Slavneft-YANOS), part of OAO NGK Slavneft, a joint enterprise between Gazprom Neft PJSC and Rosneft, is one of the most important oil refining facilities in Russia. The company’s product range includes automotive gasolines and Euro-5 diesel fuels, jet fuels, a wide range of oils and lubricants (industrial, turbine and compression lubricants, as well as Group III base oils), bitumens (including road, roofing and construction bitumens), paraffin-wax products, aromatic hydrocarbons and more.

The plant’s recent investment programme has allowed it to move over to producing Euro-5 motor fuels exclusively. JSC Slavneft-YANOS’ new development strategy envisages the further modernisation of production capacity to increase conversion rate and light product yield, as well as achieving greater production efficiency.

Gazprom Neft’s own refining facilities — its Moscow and Omsk Refineries — processed a total 31.5 million tonnes of crude in 2018.
