Press release (Uralchem): Russia-Belarus Business Council may become a facilitator for businesses and government agencies

Moscow, Russia – 16 October 2018. Executive Director of the Russia-Belarus Business Council and Deputy CEO of URALCHEM Rinat Gizatulin made an important statement at a meeting of the Business Cooperation Council held in Mogilev as part of the Fifth Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions.

According to Gizatulin, the Business Council will be engaged in facilitating the relationship between business entities and government agencies of Russia and Belarus in order to eliminate any administrative barriers. Another task of the Business Council will be promoting the development of Russian-Belarusian cooperation and the establishment of international cooperation chains.

Moreover, Business Council members including representatives of state corporations, major private companies and small and medium-sized business will develop and implement joint cultural and educational projects. All participants of the meeting supported such ‘reboot’ of the Russia-Belarus Business Council.

A potential Business Council partner from the Belarusian side was also discussed at the Fifth Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions. Recently, Sergei Rumas, Russian President's envoy for the development of trade and economic cooperation with the Republic of Belarus, and Mikhail Babich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus, proposed to the Belarusian Prime Minister to establish such an entity. According to Babich, the Business Council platform could be used by the parties to discuss various economic cooperation issues and prepare recommendations to the executive authorities of both countries.

Hence, the governance of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of both countries approved the Russia-Belarus Council’s initiatives.
