Press release: Gazprom Neft refineries secure positive assessment of industrial safety from Rostechnadzor

The Gazprom Neft Omsk Refinery was recently used as an expert forum for an on-site meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia (Rostechnadzor). The meeting, held in Omsk on 11 and 12 July 2018 and led by Svetlana Radionova (Deputy Chair, Rostechnadzor), was attended by senior management from Gazprom Neft refineries, heads of Russian oil companies, and oil production and refining specialists. The meeting closed with participants delivering a highly positive assessment of industrial and environmental safety at the Omsk Refinery, highlighting the cutting-edge digital production management technologies being introduced by Gazprom Neft throughout its facilities.

Rostechnadzor Deputy Chair Svetlana Radionova noted: “Gazprom Neft’s Omsk Refinery is currently implementing the most extensive modernisation of production facilities in the industry, with major works having, already, been undertaken in developing facilities to take the plant to new levels in terms of efficiency, quality, and industrial and environmental safety. The construction and modernisation of such advanced industrial facilities requires the application of cutting-edge technologies, particularly in ensuring workplace safety. The practices used by the enterprise in this area could become the standard for the entire refining industry.”

Attendees were given an introductory tour of the Omsk Refinery, were specialists were shown construction sites for key projects under the second stage of the refinery’s modernisation programme, as well as visiting exiting facilities and being given insights into the work of the integrated control facility, from which the plant’s key production processes and compliance with environmental standards are monitored and ensured.

Anatoly Cherner, Deputy CEO for Processing, Logistics and Sales, Gazprom Neft PJSC, commented: “Gazprom Neft is improving production efficiency and implementing the latest technologies in industrial safety as part of the modernisation of its refining facilities, investing more than RUB80 billion in workplace safety at the Omsk and Moscow Refineries between 2010 and 2020. A major part of this investment is going into the proactive development of automated systems, and digitising production processes. Working in the interests of the industry as a whole, Gazprom Neft is acting as an innovator and reliable partner in achieving a common goal — the safety and security of people, the environment, and production facilities.”
