Press release: "Titan-Agro" pig-breeding farm accepted batch of certified boars

In April, within the scheduled renewal of the genetic material at the big-breeding complex "Petrovsky" (separate subdivision of "Titan-Agro" Ltd.), 13 boars of Landrace, Large White and Maxgrow species were delivered to the site.

These breeds are characterized by high growth rates, high meat quality and low fat content.

To Omsk region boars came from Vologda, where there is a selective genetic nucleus unit of the Irish company PIC Genetics (Hermitage AI). They were delivered to Siberia by special transport intended for transportation of animals.The transportation route of breeding boars was agreed by the Main Veterinary Department of Omsk Region and ran through the territories of regions where the African swine fever virus was not registered. 

The weight of each boar is about 140 kg. Now they are under quarantine, the separate personnel isassigned to care them. Within a month the animals will undergo the whole complex of veterinary measures (adaptation, blood analysis, vaccination and others) needed to add boars into the core herd. All manipulations with animals are carried out according to the scheme developed at the "Petrovsky" pig-breeding complex. After the quarantine regime, certified boars will be transferred to the artificial insemination center. 

It should be noted that first batch of certified animals from Ireland in the number of 3,000 were delivered to the pig-breeding farm "Petrovsky" in the autumn of 2011. To date, the livestock enterprise contains about 60,000 animals, including 50 boars (without notice of newcomers) and about 3,800 breeding sows. 

Additionally, pig-breeding complex "Petrovsky" has IV compartment which is the highest degree of biological protection. The enterprise is fitted withequipment of the company BigDutchman (Germany), which allows to ensure high standards of hygiene in the livestock management area. The automated feeding system makes it possible to provide animals with the necessary scope of balanced feeds efficiently, dosed and hygienically. The pig-breeding complex is a part of the agro-biotechnological industrial cluster of Omsk region (being a part of "Titan-Agro" Ltd.).
