Press release: Upraising of the Rafinate Fractionator Column at the TANECO Complex Construction Site

Upraising of the rafinate fractionator column, pos. 2600С0001, intended operation in the composition of the system for the production of aromatic hydrocarbons was carried out at the construction site of the JSC TANECO’s Complex of the Oil Refining and Petrochemical Plants.

The weight of the raffinate column, taking into account the assembled tower platforms, is about 300 tonnes, the height is 54.1 meters, and the diameter is 4.2 meters. The column has been manufactured by "NATEK-Neftekhimmash" company (Taganrog) and it is intended to provide for separation of С8 non-extracted aromatic compounds from the desorbent.

The upraising and installation of the column were carried out by the contracting organizations OOO Instar Logistics and OOO NUMiS with the help of two LIBHERR cranes with a load capacity of 750 and 400 tonnes, respectively. The complexity of the operation was that they initially had to bring the main crawler-mounted LIBHERR crane owned by OOO Instar Logistics in advance from Samara using 46 motor vehicles. It took 10 days to assemble the crane. Significant scope of preparatory work was carried out to make the temporary site territory ready for the crane’s erection and installation. The road at the territory of the TANECO Complex was widened and special routes of traffic were developed to bring the column to the construction site.

All the efforts resulted in upraising the large-capacity equipment in a regular mode and within scheduled time. Upraising the raffinate column will allow starting the erection of subsequent equipment to be installed in other sections of the aromatic hydrocarbon production complex designed to produce desired cut fractions, benzene and high purity paraxylene. These products, in turn, are a valuable raw material for petrochemical production.

The paraxylene’s main application area is the production of polyethylene terephthalate, which is used in many countries for the fabrication of containers for food products and beverages.
