Press release: TOAZ ramped up urea production by 33% in 2017

TOAZ announced the production results for the year 2017, with the urea output being the highest for the last six years.

Over the reporting period the output of ammonia, the key product of TOAZ, amounts to 2.642 million tons (the output in 2016 totalled 2.856 million tons). The production ramp-down is attributed to the downtime occurred at the start of 2017, due to inability to transport production through the Ukrainian part of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline.

At the same time Togliattiazot increased the output of urea almost by 33% to 720.2 thousand tons (up from 552.2 thousand tons produced in 2016). The urea output has set a company record of being the highest one for the last six years.

Commenting on the record-setting output, Vyacheslav Suslov, CEO, CJSC Corporation Togliattiazot, said: “Good production results of 2017 were achieved by virtue of our strategic revamp program and allow TOAZ to maintain its leadership in the market. During the current year we will keep moving forward and continue to implement our large-scale investment projects and upgrade our capabilities. I am certain that steady and uninterrupted unit operation will allow us to meet the anniversary year with setting new records.”

From 2015 to 2017, completed were repairs and revamp of ammonia units 3, 4, 5 and 6, two cryogenic ammonia storage tanks, and both urea units. Since 2012, the company has invested over 28 billion RUB in total in revamps.
