Price increase for the basic chemical o-cresol

Leverkusen - LANXESS, one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of cresols, will increase its prices worldwide for o-cresol by ten percent with immediate effect. The reasons for this, according to Ralf Krüger, head of Chlorotoluenes & Derivatives Marketing in the Basic Chemicals business unit, are the significant increases in the costs of raw materials and energy. The basic chemical o-Cresol is mainly used for the production of resins and crop protection agents.

The Basic Chemicals business unit is part of the Chemical Intermediates segment, which posted sales of EUR 1.53 billion in fiscal 2006.
