LANXESS raises prices of the basic chemical nitrotoluene and derivatives

Leverkusen - The LANXESS chemical group is to increase its global prices for nitrotoluenes and derivatives by ten to fourteen percent with immediate effect. According to Nadine Wendt, Product Manager Nitrotoluenes & Derivatives in the Basic Chemicals business unit, the rise has become necessary because of the significant increase in the cost of raw materials and energy.

LANXESS is one of the world's leading producers of nitrotoluene and its derivatives. These basic chemicals cover a broad range of applications, extending from the production of agrochemicals to optical brighteners.

The Basic Chemicals business unit is part of the Chemical Intermediates segment, which posted sales of EUR 1.53 billion in fiscal 2006.
