Press release:SIBUR delivers and installs large-size equipment at ZapSibNeftekhim
Moscow, 27 October 2016. 23 units of large-size equipment have been installed for the steam cracker at ZapSibNeftekhim, a production facility currently under construction. These include 16 process columns, 1 reactor, 2 heat exchangers and 4 compressor parts.
The installed bulky parts also comprise two largest and heaviest propane fractionation columns (106 metres long, 8.5 metres in diameter and weighing 917 tonnes each). Also, SIBUR has installed a water wash column, a primary fractionator, an absorber column breaking down gaseous mixture into its components by dissolving them in an absorbent, deethaniser columns required to strip methane and ethane from the liquid, a stabiliser column, etc.
“All 58 units of large-size equipment shipped during the 2016 navigation season have been delivered to the industrial port of Tobolsk,” said Roman Maximov, head of Oversize Load Land Transportation. “By the end of the year, the construction site will see another 13 units of large-size equipment installed, including four columns, as well as compressors, heat exchangers, tanks, turbines and condensate collectors.”
The equipment has been delivered to the industrial port of Tobolsk from South Korea through the Pacific, Indian, Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, and the rivers Ob and Irtysh.

For Editors:
ZapSibNeftekhim will become the largest modern petrochemical facility in Russia. The project incorporates a steam cracker with a capacity of 1.5 mtpa of ethylene, around 500 ktpa of propylene and 100 ktpa of butane-butylene fraction (BBF), along with units to produce various grades of polyethylene and polypropylene with a total capacity of 2 mtpa. It is designed for deep conversion of a substantial portion of by-products of oil and gas extraction in the West Siberia, including associated gas, and import substitution for polymers that enjoy most demand on the Russian market. ZapSibNeftekhim will be part of the Tobolsk production site, which comprises monomer and polymer production facilities already on stream.
Construction materials for the project are delivered from 35 regions across Russia and include the following Russian-made technological materials and equipment:
- around 1 thousand units of process equipment;
- over 110 thousand tonnes of metal structures;
- approximately 20 thousand tonnes of pipe products;
- over 200 km of plastic pipe;
- over 3 thousand km of cable.
