Press release: Gazprom to secure reliable gas supplies to Armenian consumers in coming winter
A Gazprom delegation headed by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee, paid a working visit to Armenia today.
Yerevan hosted meetings of Alexey Miller with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan.
The parties discussed cooperation in the gas sector, placing a special focus on the preparations for the 2016–2017 autumn/winter period. It was noted that Gazprom would secure reliable gas supplies to consumers in the coming winter. To that end, gas reserves accumulation continues at the Abovyanskoye UGS facility with the purpose of easing peak loads.
The meeting also touched upon the General Scheme of Gas Supply to and Gasification of the Armenian Republic, a draft of which had been developed by Gazprom.
Alexey Miller visited Gazprom Armenia today and introduced Grant Tadevosyan, the newly appointed Director General, to the company’s staff. Vardan Arutyunyan, the former Director General of Gazprom Armenia, entered the civil service.
Background
In 2013, Gazprom and Gazprom Armenia signed the contract for up to 2.5 billion cubic meters of Russian gas to be supplied annually to Armenia in 2014–2018. On April 7, 2016, an addendum to the contract was signed. Gas is delivered to the Armenian border by Gazprom Export. In 2015, Gazprom supplied Armenia with 1.9 billion cubic meters of gas.
Gazprom Armenia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom, is focused on natural gas supplies to the Armenian market. In addition, the company transports, stores, distributes and sells natural gas, as well as upgrades and expands the gas transmission system and underground gas storage facilities in the Republic of Armenia.
The General Scheme of Gas Supply to and Gasification of the Armenian Republic provides for large-scale overhaul, upgrade and modernization of the country's gas transmission infrastructure.
On October 25, 2016, Grant Tadevosyan was appointed Director General of Gazprom Armenia by decision of the company’s Board of Directors.
Grant Tadevosyan was born on April 30, 1962. In 1983, he graduated from Yerevan Polytechnic Institute, majoring in Heat and Gas Supply and Ventilation.
