Press release: Alexey Miller moderates Presiding Committee Meeting of IBC

St. Petersburg hosted today the 37th Presiding Committee Meeting of the International Business Congress (IBC) moderated by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and President of the IBC. 

 

The Meeting participants examined the reports of the IBC Working Committees. It was noted that the IBC had been instrumental in the successful implementation of a number of projects in such areas as energy efficiency and the use of gas as a vehicle fuel. Work is in progress on environmental and staff training projects.

 

The Meeting addressed the issue of altering the membership of the Presiding Committee. In addition, the participants approved the IBC budget for 2018 and agreed on the central theme of the next IBC General Meeting: “Natural Gas: a Clean Fuel for India and the World.” The 21st IBC General Meeting will take place on April 26–27, 2018, in New Delhi, India.

 

Background

The International Business Congress (IBC) is an international non-governmental and non-profit organization. The IBC consists of 127 members, including Gazprom, Deutsche Bank, ExxonMobil, ENGIE, Gasunie, J.P. Morgan Bank International, KPMG, Mitsubishi, Mizuho Bank, Siemens, Shell, Statoil, Schneider Electric, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Total, Uniper, Wintershall, Sakhalin Energy, Srbijagas, and others.

The IBC's supreme body is the General Meeting. The 50-member Presiding Committee exercises general management. The nine-member Board of Executive Directors is responsible for operational issues.

The Congress deals with the practical aspects of economic cooperation and brings forward proposals for debottlenecking and building a favorable environment for safe and efficient entrepreneurial activities. The IBC operates through eight Working Committees: Energy; Industry, Innovations and Prospective Development; Law, Banking and Finance; Information and Communications; Ecology and Healthcare; Modern Technologies and Prospective Oil and Gas Industry Projects; Human Resources, Education and Science; and Business Security.
